Arabian Travel Market makes an impression with WIS

Posted Monday 8th June 2015

May has been a busy month for the travel industry in Dubai with the annual Arabian Travel Market (ATM) showcasing all that the industry has to offer.

As the launch of Worldwide Insurance Solutions coincided with ATM, the WIS team were out in force for three full days of networking and making those all important new business contacts.

Jonathan Cooper led the WIS team at the event and reflected on the first ATM for WIS saying:

"ATM this year was a tremendous success - I've never seen it so busy. From checking with the organisers, reported attendance numbers were up 15% on last year with over 26,000 visitors. There were also 86 countries represented and this brought home to me the truly global nature of the travel industry.

We held a number of extremely worthwhile business meetings during ATM and I am confident that we can build on these meetings to create new partnerships for WIS within the travel industry.

The theme of ATM 2015 was Family Travel and this is an important sector for WIS, working with our insurance partners to provide truly exceptional insurance cover for families. To coincide with ATM, the research company YOUGOV announced the results of their latest MENA survey for this sector.

Key findings include

  • 64% of respondents travelled with children
  • families took an average of 2 trips per year
  • top destinations were the UAE and Europe

Also, respondents with younger children aged 0-12 were more likely to travel than those with older children.

These survey results are important as they show not only the strength of the family travel sector but the key decisions families make when booking the family holiday. WIS has considerable expertise in the marketing of travel insurance and we will be working to support our travel agency partners using WISConnectz, as they address the insurance needs of the family segment.

Key benefits for the family provided by our insurance partner Allianz Global Assistance will be areas such as emergency medical assistance, both in terms of the cost of treatment and the ability for evacuation & repatriation of any critically injured family members.

Now, more than ever, family travel needs the reassurance and peace of mind provided by quality travel insurance"

Details of this the YouGov survey can be found at their website.
